This first poem is one of my all time favorites. I'm not even a huge Shakespeare fan. It makes me feel nostalgic, peaceful, sad, lonely and joyful all at the same time. I see myself curled in an over-sized, cream, cable knit sweater swaying underneath the imagery and song of this poem. What feelings or images do these words conjure up in you? Comment below! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Under The Greenwood Tree
William Shakespeare

Under the greenwood tree
Who loves to lie with me,
And turn his merry note
Unto the sweet bird's throat,
Come hither, come hither, come hither:
Here shall he see
No enemy
But winter and rough weather.

Who doth ambition shun,
And loves to live i' the sun,
Seeking the food he eats,
And pleas'd with what he gets,
Come hither, come hither, come hither:
Here shall he see
No enemy
But winter and rough weather.
